DSW has awarded a $75,000 grant to Autism Speaks following an online initiative asking employees to nominate their favorite non-profit organizations.
The Shoe Lovers Care Leave Your Mark program was created by DSW to reaffirm the company’s ongoing focus and dedication to giving back and supporting charitable causes, according to a company press release.
DSW “shoe lovers,” or employees, nominated more than 200 non-profit organizations for consideration. Eight finalists were selected by DSW and then presented via social media for public voting. The finalists included: Autism Speaks; Bright Pink; Children’s Hunger Alliance; CureSearch for Children’s Cancer; Look Good Feel Better/PCPCF; Mid-Ohio Food Bank; Shoes That Fit; and Semper Fi Fund. Voting closed at the end of June 2013.
