The B Lab network at B Corp has named TOMS as a Best For The World: Community award winner, with the footwear and lifestyle company ranking among the highest verified scores in the sustainability nonprofit’s B Impact Assessment. These awards highlight the work of global Certified B Corporations with verified B Impact Scores that rank in the top 5% within the categories of community, customers, environment, governance and workers for their B Impact Assessment.
Companies considered in the community category are ranked within groups by size for their work in charitable giving, diversity investments and educational opportunities. TOMS’ area score was 48.1 in the group of companies within the 250 to 999 employee range.
“Each Best for the World edition is an opportunity to raise the bar for how businesses can and should operate to create real and lasting positive impact for their workers, customers, communities and the environment,” said Dan Osusky, Head of Standards and Insights at B Lab Global in a statement. “While no company is perfect and even the best companies can and should continue to strive to improve, the B Corps recognized as Best for the World can provide us all — standards setters, B Corps, non-B Corps, and sustainability advocates — with inspiration on what true leadership in business can look like to make progress on addressing our current global challenges.”
In addition to recognizing the B Corps that are making a large impact, the Best For The World awards allow companies to share their best practices to promote change. B Lab’s mission includes leading change in standards and policies that will benefit people, communities and the planet.
