Grocery Delivery Platform Shipt Scores $20.1 Million To Expand Business

1shipt

Online grocery marketplace Shipt has secured $20.1 million in funding. The Series A round was led by Greycroft Partners, Harbert Growth Partners and e.ventures. Shipt plans to use the funds to continue to scale its business to new markets, develop more partnerships with grocery retailers and expand its team.

Since its launch in 2014, the Alabama-based company has expanded to deliver groceries in 27 cities across 10 states, including Georgia, Texas and the Carolinas, with a community of more than 5,000 shoppers. Its app allows consumers to browse and order a full selection of grocery items. A Shipt Shopper then hand-picks and delivers the items within a one-hour time frame.

Shipt will be offering alcohol delivery in Orlando, Fla. beginning this month, and plans to add to its platform’s offerings later this year.

“Over the past year, we have laid a strong foundation for our business and scaled our service across the country,” said Bill Smith, Founder and CEO of Shipt in a statement. “This funding is the catalyst that will propel us to the next level. We are ready to put this funding to work strategically, so we can cultivate new partnerships and continue building the best way to buy groceries.”
