Gap Reimagines its ’90s Fragrances in Gap Beauty’s First Launch

“Gap has a real opportunity in beauty, and fragrance is where that story starts,” said Deb Redmond, Head of Beauty at Gap Inc.

Key Takeaways:

  • Gap Beauty will launch its first product collection on July 30 with five reimagined fragrances rooted in the brand’s ’90s scent archive.
  • The launch follows Gap Inc.’s September 2025 appointment of a dedicated beauty leadership team to guide expansion across the portfolio.
  • Fragrance was named the entry point for Gap’s beauty push, positioning scent as the foundation for further category growth in 2026.

Gap is re-launching fragrances, which longtime consumers might remember from the ’90s. But Gap Beauty’s first product launch won’t recreate the Dream, Grass, Heaven and Om fragrances. Instead, the company is creating a new line of scents under the same names.

“Gap has always created products that become part of how people express who they are, and fragrance is a natural extension of that,” said Mark Breitbard, CEO and President of Gap, in a statement. “We’ve modernized Gap’s signature fragrances for the person who grew up with Gap and for those discovering it for the first time. It’s a deeply personal category and a powerful way for us to connect generations as we continue to evolve the brand.”

The New Gap Fragrances

Consumers previously wore one defining fragrance. Now, they reach for different scents depending on their mood and occasion. Gap Beauty is designed for that new approach to fragrance, according to a press release, and all five scents are designed to complement each other and be layered with one another:

  • Dream is the closest to the original ’90s form, with notes of Italian bergamot, jasmine and cedarwood.
  • Grass has green mandarin, march and Virginia cedar notes.
  • Heaven has elements of proprietary amber molecule, pear, Madagascar vanilla and patchouli.
  • Om has notes of ginger, sandalwood and cedar.
  • Harmony, the new addition to the lineup, has elements of apricot nectar, gardenia and amber.

“Gap has a real opportunity in beauty, and fragrance is where that story starts,” said Deb Redmond, Head of Beauty at Gap Inc., in a statement. “We were rigorous about the technical journey, maintaining the core DNA of the original scents while modernizing the formulations for how people actually wear fragrance today. Gap has always made quality feel within reach. This collection is that same commitment, applied to beauty.”

Gap will launch the “Wear What You Feel” campaign with actress Victoria Pedretti. Gap Fragrance will be available on July 30 in all Gap stores in the U.S. and online. The fragrances are available in three formats: a five-piece .05-oz Discovery Kit ($20), a 10ml size ($20) and 50ml ($52).

Part of a Broader Beauty and Accessories Strategy for Gap Inc.

The fragrance launch is the latest step in a beauty and accessories expansion Gap Inc. set in motion last year.

In September 2025, the company named Redmond General Manager of Beauty and Michele Parsons General Manager of Accessories, while also engaging industry veterans John Demsey and Reed Krakoff as Executive Director of Beauty and Executive Director of Accessories, respectively.

The hires were positioned to guide strategy across Gap Inc.’s full portfolio, which includes Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta. Old Navy Beauty Co. launched first, in October 2025, with Gap Fragrance now marking the second concrete step in the company’s stated plan to build beauty into a long-term growth engine.
