Extending its competition with ecommerce giants Alibaba and Amazon to new global markets, JD.com has launched Joybuy ecommerce sites in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, with an assortment that includes tech, appliances, beauty, home, grocery and everyday essentials from trusted brands including L’Oréal Paris, Braun, De’Longhi and Brita.
“The UK and Europe have some of the savviest shoppers in the world, and we’re bringing our decades of retail and logistics experience to the UK and Europe to change the way people shop online for the better,” said a UK Joybuy spokesperson in a statement. “By owning the process from the warehouse to the front door, we’re making same-day delivery the new standard. Our investment in the UK and across Europe is focused on ensuring that when a customer clicks ‘buy,’ they know the product will be delivered to their door with the quality, speed and reliability they deserve.”
Paid Membership Program Offers Free Delivery
Along with the site launch, Joybuy is introducing JoyPlus, a membership program offering free delivery with no minimum spend as well as access to exclusive offers across all Joybuy countries. Each purchase earns members Joybuy Points that can be redeemed for future discounts. The introductory fee is £3.99 a month, or £2.99 for students; new customers can access a 30-day free trial.
To help build regular traffic to the site, Joybuy also will feature regular limited-time deals that drop daily. To mark the UK launch, these deals will include electronics, home appliances, groceries and more.
Same-Day Delivery Available with UK Launch
In the UK, Joybuy will offer same-day delivery at no extra charge on eligible orders over £29 as part of its Double 11 service, meaning if customers order by 11 a.m., they’ll receive their package before 11 p.m. that day. More than 17 million people — 4.5 million UK households, including London, Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Oxford and Cambridge — are covered by the same-day delivery offer at launch; shoppers outside the Double 11 delivery zones can get next-day or standard delivery nationwide.
