Tesla has hired former Apple and Burberry executive Chester Chipperfield as its Global Creative Director.
Chipperfield most recently served in Apple’s “Special Projects” division, where he was said to have worked on digital retail strategy for the Apple Watch and the Titan car project, according to an article in Electrek. Before that Chipperfield was Burberry’s VP of Digital and Interactive Design.
Both Tesla and Apple have hired executives from Burberry over the last few years. Chipperfield joined Apple after Burberry chief executive Angela Ahrendts was hired to run Apple Retail. Last year, Tesla hired longtime Burberry exec Ganesh Srivats to lead its sales effort in North America. Tesla has also hired Burberry employees to manage retail locations.

Following Tesla’s recent moves into the retail arena, which include placing direct sales in Nordstrom stores and upscale fashion malls, appointing a former Burberry exec to head its digital department seems to be a natural next step.
