Walgreens is partnering with Jenny Craig to open 100 weight management centers inside Walgreens stores in 20 states beginning in January 2020. The Jenny Craig at Walgreens clinics will offer one-on-one consultations, customized menu plans and meal delivery, to help shoppers improve their health and lose weight.
The markets being targeted for the initial rollout include Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia and Phoenix. Walgreens will explore additional in-store and digital possibilities for the partnership as well.
“Jenny Craig has a long standing history of changing lives through personal one-on-one support and lifestyle management,” said Jim OConor, SVP, Neighborhood Health Destination at Walgreens. “We found Jenny Craig to be a strong fit with our shared mission to provide trusted, proven, and personalized care. Jenny Craig at Walgreens will give customers the opportunity to interact face-to-face with Jenny Craig consultants, just as our patients have experienced for over a century with our pharmacists.”
The initiative is the latest program Walgreens has introduced to enhance its commitment to healthcare, including pulling e-cigarettes from its shelves and raising the age for buying tobacco to 21. Walgreens has worked to improve the shopping experience by empowering associates with a hands-free communication suite, piloting an AR-based hair coloring experience and becoming an early adopter of CBD products.
Walgreens is no stranger to partnerships: the company has added Kroger’s private label products to 35 stores, joined the FedEx OnSite network for package pickups and returns and started accepting Alipay at 7,000 locations.
