Data-driven ad and marketing platform Jivox has partnered with Taggstar to provide its e-Commerce customers with more personalized ad campaigns. The partnership will allow Jivox e-Commerce customers to use the Taggstar Social Proof Engine to pull real-time data on popular products and trends, based on shoppers’ online browsing history.
Social proof is defined as outside reinforcement for one’s actions. In the e-Commerce world, social proof may include product reviews, customer ratings, top-trending items and product scarcity.
The Taggstar Social Proof Engine will allow Jivox online retail customers to build displays and retarget ads based on up-to-the-minute social data on who’s viewing and purchasing products. If the shopper is visiting the site for the first time, Jivox uses his or her prior browsing behavior and geographic variables to recommend relevant items.

Online retail giants such as REI, eBay and 1-800-Flowers have relied on the Jivox digital ad platform to run personalized ad campaigns. The new partnership with Taggstar will take these ads even further through the power of social proof messaging, something that Shop Direct, the U.K.’s fourth largest online retailer, has already seen positive results with.
Shop Direct recently added social proof messaging to its flagship sites. As a result, the retailer saw a 2.7% increase in its sales conversion rate — approximately $20 million in 18 months.
“The 2.7% increase we added to our sales conversions is incredible given the scale of our retail sites,” said Jonathan Wall, e-Commerce Director at Shop Direct in a statement. “Adding Taggstar has been the single-biggest driver of incremental revenues in our financial year 2014/15.”
Consumers today look for reviews and recommendations from their peers or on social media when making purchase decisions. That’s why retailers and brands are relying on influencer marketing and user-generated content to engage with their customers and promote goods. People are always making decisions based on others’ experience, which is why social proof messaging plays such a large role in e-Commerce.
