Irish apparel retailer Primark is continuing its brick-and-mortar expansion in the Southwest U.S. with the opening of its first Texas store next month and plans for four more locations in the state. Last month Primark also signed a contract to open a flagship store in midtown NYC’s Penn District.
The new store, located at La Plaza in McAllen, Texas, will feature 37,000 square feet of selling space when it opens Dec. 12, 2024 and will be the retailer’s 29th U.S. location. Primark also has signed leases for new stores in the North East Mall in Hurst, Texas and the Willowbrook Mall in Houston, and intends to open stores in El Paso’s Cielo Vista Mall and at Katy Mills in Houston.
“As one of the fastest-growing states in the country, Texas represents an exciting growth opportunity for Primark as we continue our expansion across the country,” said Kevin Tulip, President of Primark U.S. in a statement. “We’re building our La Plaza team and getting ready to welcome shoppers to experience the joy that our unique combination of quality products at affordable prices brings to families, just in time for the holidays.”
In February 2024 Primark opened a second U.S. distribution center, in Jacksonville, Fla., to support its expanding store fleet.
