End-to-end retail solutions provider NCR has acquired grocery ecommerce solution provider Freshop. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition will add ecommerce functionality to NCR’s core POS platform, giving retailers, in particular regional and small grocery chains, the ability to quickly deploy buy online, pick up in-store (BOPIS) capabilities in-house as an alternative to relying on a third-party provider.
Freshop’s ecommerce capabilities will become a key component of NCR’s Next-Generation Retail Store Architecture, including NCR Emerald, a cloud-enabled POS platform that allows retailers to simplify store operations by unifying POS, payments, back office and more.
“As we continue to expand NCR’s software and services-led offerings, the addition of Freshop to our retail platform creates more value for our customers and new capabilities for NCR to run the store,” said Michael D. Hayford, President and CEO of NCR in a statement.
