METRO Launches Outdoor Online Shop With Multichannel Payment Platform

METRO Cash & Carry Deutschland will power its new outdoor e-Commerce shop through an expanded partnership with Concardis, a full-service payment provider. Customers will be able to use the Payengine platform to order products for the outdoor season from the current METRO catalogue.

The Payengine software architecture combines various forms of business logic for individual payment processes under a single uniform structure, letting retailers review incoming payments in real time on any device.

“For the development of our outdoor online shop, it was important for us to have a payment partner who understands the retail industry and offers a state-of-the-art solution,” said Lutz Tönnissen, Chief Department Manager for Finance and Accounting at METRO Deutschland in a statement. “With the new Payengine, Concardis has developed a convincing product which adapts to our individual needs.”


METRO Cash & Carry Deutschland GmbH operates 104 cash-and-carry markets in Germany with more than 14,000 employees and approximately four million customers. METRO Cash & Carry operates more than 750 locations in 28 countries.
