Harris Teeter Implements Mobile Wallet From Paydiant

Supermarket chain Harris Teeter, Inc. is implementing the white label mobile wallet from Paydiant, a cloud-based mobile payment platform provider, as part of its Express Lane shopping service. The pilot program was deployed at Harris Teeter’s Matthews, N.C. location in August 2013.

The Express Lane service is designed to allow customers to place orders online and pick them up curbside. Customers first download the Paydiant mobile wallet app to their Android or iOS device, and then link up their credit cards. Shoppers then use the Harris Teeter mobile wallet, called HT Express Pay, to complete the transaction. When arriving to pick up an order, customers scan a QR code presented on a VeriFone mobile POS device, then select the card they want to use to complete the transaction.

According to a company press release, the Paydiant platform will be incorporated into the retailer’s existing mobile app, ht mobile™, following a successful pilot program. Harris Teeter also plans to accept other Paydiant-powered mobile wallets from banks and card-issuers in the Express Lane later in 2013.
