Gone but not Forgotten Loehmann’s Plans Pop-Up, Teases Ecommerce Return

Loehmann’s, famed as a retailer where highly motivated, elbows-out shoppers could find amazing bargains, hasn’t operated physical stores since 2014, following its third bankruptcy, but the brand name still exerts a pull on shoppers. At least that’s what the retailer’s owner, former discount rival Century 21, seems to think.

According to Long Island Business News and other media outlets, Century 21 will operate a Loehmann’s pop-up from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1 at Long Island’s Tanger Outlets Deer Park in what will be the first in a series of planned pop-ups. The assortment will feature men’s and women’s read-to-wear, shoes and accessories from designer and established labels and emerging brands at up to 70% off retail prices, with the inventory being supplied by Icon Luxury Group.

Less tangible but potentially more impactful, Loehmann’s is hinting that it will be returning not just to brick-and-mortar retail but to ecommerce as well: Its web page declares, “We are coming back soon!” and provides visitors with an opportunity to share their email address so they can be “the first to shop Loehmann’s when we come back!”
