Ace Hardware has launched Ace YardRx, the hardware cooperative’s first subscription service for lawn care. The prescriptive program will provide a tailored plan based on customers’ regional location, grass type, yard size and brand or application preferences. Seasonal treatments are delivered to customers’ homes at no additional cost, and Ace promises that these shoppers will pay the retailer’s best price for products.
Once customers sign up for the service, they will receive product recommendations including treatments for patch and repair, fertilizer, weed control, insect control and general seeding. Customers also can modify their program to address specific issues such as fungus, certain insects or weeds.
Ace Hardware chose Groundhog Day, Feb. 2, to launch the program, both because late winter is prime garden prep time but also because the retailer has announced Ace YardRx as the “Official Yard Care Sponsor of Groundhog Day 2025.” Ace Hardware also has entered an NIL (name, image, likeness) deal with Punxsutawney Phil, the legendary weather predictor. Phil will now become an Ace seasonal employee, embodying the brand’s commitment to year-round yard care solutions.
“I’m excited to join Ace Hardware as their temporary seasonal employee to help launch Ace YardRx,” said Punxsutawney Phil in a statement. “Just like me, Ace knows that the right tools and timing make all the difference, and this new program gives homeowners just what they need to get their yards ready for the upcoming seasons.”
