Nike has reconfigured its Senior Leadership Team (SLT) as part of the brand’s turnaround strategy, creating the role of Chief Operating Officer, eliminating the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Commercial Officer positions and bringing the senior leaders of Nike’s four global geographies onto the SLT.
Current Chief Supply Chain Officer and nearly two-decade Nike veteran Venkatesh Alagirisamy (“Venky”) will be promoted to EVP and COO, effective Dec. 8. Current CTO Dr. Muge Dogan will be leaving the company, as will current Chief Commercial Officer Craig Williams. Geography leaders Angela Dong (Greater China), Carl Grebert (EMEA), Tom Peddie (North America) and Cathy Sparks (Asia Pacific Latin America) will be invited to the SLT.
“Venky and his team will now be able to look end-to-end to ensure technology is fully integrated across the company and into how we create, plan, make, deliver and sell our world-class innovations across our three iconic brands,” said Elliott Hill, President and CEO of Nike in a note to employees.
Global sales and the Nike Direct marketplace will now report to the company’s EVP and CFO, Matt Friend. “Bringing these teams under Matt’s leadership, alongside the strategy work he already oversees, puts him in a unique position to connect our marketplace directly to company strategy and where we place our biggest bets,” said Hill.
Hill had outlined elements of Nike’s turnaround strategy during an October call discussing the brand’s Q1 2025 results. A cornerstone will be the “sport offense,” realigning Nike product from gender-based categories like men’s, women’s and kids to being organized by sport across its Nike, Jordan and Converse brands.
