Blue Yonder Launches Three Microservices Aimed at Improving Forecasting

Blue Yonder has introduced three SaaS-based Commerce microservices, with the goal of helping retailers navigate global supply chain disruptions, demand forecasting and omnichannel ordering habits. Fulfillment Item Forecasting, Fulfillment Order Forecasting and Fulfillment Labor and Resource Forecasting were designed to enable retailers to better solve these challenges:

• Fulfillment Item Forecasting aims to forecast demand based on consumers’ order specifications and aggregate the data within a given postal code. The microservice assigns the forecast to the ideal inventory nodes to service the market, whether for a physical store (for BOPIS orders), the warehouse or distribution center (for delivery) or a microfulfillment center (for same-day delivery).

• Fulfillment Order Forecasting is designed to predict the number of orders at a store or warehouse at the weekly, daily or hourly level, to help retailers reduce forecast errors. These forecasts can provide retailers with insights to predict labor or hard assets needed to pick BOPIS orders, understand and shape in-store traffic and attach support services like assembly and installation.

• Fulfillment Labor and Resource Forecasting can transform demand intelligence into hard asset recommendations for labor and tools needed to fulfill commerce orders at the store or warehouse level. It focuses on planning and positioning secondary and tertiary assets.
