NUG, one of the premier diversified cannabis companies in California, has debuted its first ever retail location in Sacramento, Calif. The 3,500-sq.-ft. store was designed by San Francisco-based Alexander Design. A focal point is the custom designed preserved plant wall by Habitat Horticulture. The custom NUG logo was installed and illuminated after the wall fabrication.

The A-frame ceiling and exposed wooden beams showcase a Piet Mondrian inspired chandelier design with simple geometric shapes. The cluster of seven LED lights provides an abundance of diffused illumination. The chandelier is hand finished with dark bronze and gold leaf. A tufted black leather sofa suspended on cantilever legs flanks the plant wall. Warren Chairs are covered in a commercial wool fabric for durability.

The screen wall and product cases were exclusively created by Chris French. For the floor, concrete was covered and restored by a permanent decorative epoxy flooring system. Alexander Design selected the depth of color, movement and finish for the floor to create a custom color and application process.

The designers created a custom geometric wool carpet to adorn the waiting area. The ceramic stools are finished in a crackled gold. The unique seating is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Additional seating also includes two black high gloss finish hammered metal chairs, and embossed leather arm chairs. The design goal for this waiting room was to maintain the overall minimal and industrial feel of the existing building with an emphasis on luxury details.

Hot, rolled steal with a patina finish for the outside of the desk and a meticulously crafted walnut interior, the same design is mirrored on the reception podium. The logo is laser jet cut and finished similarly. The use of the negative space in the logo design allows for the logo to appear so prominent against the wall without any additional illumination.
