Trove President Gayle Tait will now lead the recommerce platform as its CEO, effective immediately. Former CEO Andy Ruben, who occupied the position since founding the company in 2011, will continue to work with Trove as its Executive Chairman. The change will allow Ruben to focus on industry leadership, sustainability and Trove’s growth strategy.
Tait has served as President and a member of the company’s board since January 2021. Her career, spanning more than 20 years, includes general management, marketing and commercial responsibilities including global consumer goods, payments, ecommerce and digital marketing. Prior to working with Trove, Tait served as Managing Director of Google Play’s Global Retail and Payments Activation, where she scaled the multibillion-dollar business in more than 30 markets. She also spent nearly 15 years at L’Oréal, where she served as Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, a role that saw her lead the organization’s digital transformation.
“Since Gayle joined Trove nearly 18 months ago, her contributions have been transformative,” said Ruben in a statement. “Her leadership, vision and operational expertise will undoubtedly propel Trove to new heights as we continue to build our technology platform and grow across luxury and other categories. I look forward to supporting Gayle in her new role as CEO and playing an even larger role in creating a more sustainable, circular retail economy.”
Trove clients include lululemon, helping the retailer launch a trade-in and resale pilot in 2021 and expanding the Like New program in April 2022. In February 2022, Allbirds announced Trove as its platform partner for the retailer’s ReRun Resale initiative.
