Target Names Longtime Exec As New Chief Stores Officer

1pottsTarget has promoted Janna Potts to EVP and Chief Stores Officer, replacing Tina Tyler in the role, effective immediately. Potts will be responsible for leading Target’s 1,805 U.S. stores and will report to the retailer’s Chief Operating Officer John Mulligan.

Potts is a longtime employee of Target, having worked with the company since being hired by then-subsidiary Mervyn’s in 1989. In the more than 20 years since her initial hiring, Potts has held a variety of leadership positions in stores, operations and human resources.

Most recently, Potts was a Sr. VP of Human Resources at Target with a focus on the company’s stores and distribution. Potts’ long tenure with Target appears to be a major factor in the internal promotion, which has likely been carried out to ensure brand continuity.
