Levi’s Taps Nordstrom Exec as its First Chief Digital Officer

Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co) has named Jason Gowans to the new post of SVP and Chief Digital Officer, effective Feb. 6, 2023. He will report to LS&Co President Michelle Gass and be responsible for engineering, data, AI and digital product management, spearheading efforts for both ecommerce and the digital go-to-market.

Gowans spent the past 10 years at Nordstrom in a variety of marketing, data science and digital roles, most recently as SVP of Digital Commerce, leading the growth of the retailer’s digital business on and Prior to that Gowans was SVP of Data Science and Analytics at the retailer.

“Jason is a seasoned leader with a proven track record and expertise in creating digital experiences that delight consumers, and I have no doubt that he will help us accelerate our strategies to digitally transform the company and be direct-to-consumer (DTC) first,” said Chip Bergh, President and CEO at LS&Co in a statement. “Jason’s deep knowledge of data science, combined with his strong digital expertise, will help us digitally transform all parts of our business — from supply chain to marketing to ecommerce — and accelerate our growth.”
