GGC Software Holdings And Infor Acquire Lawson Software
GGC Software Holdings, Inc. recently acquired Lawson Software, a business application software provider, maintenance and customer consultant. Lawson has been combined with SoftBrands, Inc., an affiliate of Golden Gate Capital and Infor, with the new affiliation enabling Lawson/SoftBrands and Infor to share and integrate technology and partner on product offerings through cross-selling, marketing and distribution arrangements. The new company has begun integrating applications using Infor ION, an interoperability architecture.
The first products targeted for release from the new company this year are: Lawson S3 and Infor FMS SunSystems Enterprise; Lawson S3 and Infor EAM; and Lawson Human Capital Management and Infor Workforce Management. These releases reflect the potential of the partnership and the fast pace of its development efforts, said Charles Phillps, CEO of Infor, in a press release.
MLB Engages With Fans Via Social Media Campaign

MLB.com encouraged fans to engage with the online sports destination via the company’s iPhone app, At Bat 11, and social network pages during Social Media Day 2011. Users who attended MLB games utilized the mobile app to check-in and browse interactive ballpark maps and watch video highlights. Additionally, fans who visited MLB’s Facebook and Twitter pages prior or during the eventwere eligible to win a personalized All-Star jersey and received an online discount for the team with the most interaction on Twitter. Fans were able to cast their votes on the 2011 All-Star Game Ballot sponsored by Sprint, MLB.com and 30 club sites. Nine games were scheduled as eighteen clubs played on Social Media Day 2011. Each club posted their photos for fans to submit captions. The best captions were re-tweeted by the club’s official Twitter account and one was posted by MLB.
During the season kick off, MLB’s At Bat 11 app was introduced to fans for their iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The company partnered with Volvo to offer a free trial for the month of April. The updated app includes a Gameday pitch-by-pitch feature with life-like renderings of all 30 MLB ballparks and full on-demand access to previous 2011 season games.
