Headless commerce solution provider commercetools has secured $140 million in its latest funding round, which was led by global tech investor Accel alongside existing investors Insight Partners and REWE Group. The company plans to use the investment to ramp up sales and marketing efforts in North America, Europe and APAC and expand the commercetools portfolio and product ecosystem.
Global companies including AT&T, Audi, John Lewis, The LEGO Group, Takeaway.com and Volkswagen use commercetools solutions to enhance speed and agility as they deliver ecommerce experiences across multiple touch points. The 2021 Ecommerce University, produced by retailX, included a SharperImage.com case study demonstrating the impact of the solution provider’s headless commerce offering.
“commercetools is leading the movement of a new way to do commerce that is API first,” said Dirk Hoerig, Founder and CEO of commercetools in a statement. “When we pioneered the headless commerce space eight years ago, we built the foundation to change our whole industry for the better and re-invented ecommerce.”
