JCPenney’s bankruptcy-related store closures aren’t slowing down the reopening process for the remainder of its locations. The retailer reopened 64 locations in Texas, Florida, Indiana and Ohio on May 20, implementing a set of special operating procedures at each:
- Shoppers will have access to contact-free curbside pickup, contactless checkout, an extended return policy and a longer window for using customer rewards;
- Stores will practice social distancing and enhanced cleaning regimens;
- Every associate has received training on safety practices and a mask, and plexiglass shields have been installed at checkout counters;
- Stores will operate under reduced hours, closing at 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Additionally, Ohio stores will offer designated shopping hours for vulnerable customers on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon. Vulnerable customers include senior citizens, expectant mothers, and those with underlying health concerns.
