Petsense by Tractor Supply and pet food brand Canidae are joining forces to offer relief to animal shelters affected by Kentucky’s flash flooding in July. Local Kentucky animal shelters and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will benefit from the partnership, which will deliver 1,560 pounds of dog food to these organizations.
“The effects from the recent flooding in Kentucky have been catastrophic,” said Matthew Rubin, SVP and General Manager of Petsense in a statement. “Our hearts go out to all of our team members, neighbors and communities impacted by the damage from the flooding.”
The devastating storm claimed the lives of nearly 40 people in Kentucky and left many displaced after impacts that Gov. Andy Beshear described as “widespread damage.” As of Sept. 22, two people remained missing.
“We know what an incredibly difficult time this is for those affected by the floods, and we know the road to recovery will be a long journey,” said Dana Paris, Chief Marketing Officer at Canidae Pet Food in a statement.

Tractor Supply also recently joined Canidae as a host of the Rescue Your Rescue contest, which will award more than $100,000 to shelters. The retailer also is hosting a nationwide pet supply drive through Sept. 25.
