After more than three decades of marketplace dominance, Ebay finds itself at the center of a growing enthusiasm for resale, and it’s not letting the moment pass it by. For the past couple of years Ebay has been doubling down with a major push into live shopping and programs tailored to fashion shoppers and other “enthusiasts.”
That will all be on display this week with two new activations — a 48-Hour drop-fest featuring dozens of live auctions, and a new style program showcasing coveted home goods and fashion items, curated by some of New York’s top tastemakers.
Fashion has always been a part of the Ebay mix, but the rise in popularity of resale helped drive 10% year-over-year GMV growth for the category on Ebay in the U.S. in 2025, generating upwards of $10 billion. And with nine in 10 Gen Z and Millennial consumers saying they plan to increase their pre-loved spending this year, according to Ebay’s Recommerce Report, that growth looks set to continue, bolstered by the company’s recent acquisition of Gen Z favorite resale platform Depop.
Here’s what Ebay has in store this week:

Today and tomorrow, Ebay Live will host a live shopping bonanza, aptly named “48 Hours of Drops” and featuring dozens of continuous auctions for everything from collectibles and watches to fashion and beauty.
One of these will be a 90-minute session with La La Anthony where the TV personality and actress will take shoppers inside her Brooklyn closet to showcase iconic pieces up for sale from brands including Versace, Manolo Blahnik, Gucci and The Row. During the stream, she’ll dive into the stories behind each item, do a live Q&A, offer giveaways and more.
Proceeds from the event will go to Anthony’s charity, ThreeSixty, which offers mentorship and rehabilitation support to young men incarcerated at Rikers Island.
“Opening up my closet on Ebay Live is such a full-circle moment for me,” said Anthony in comments shared with Retail TouchPoints. “Every piece tells a story, like my Jean Paul Gaultier dress, and now I get to share that directly with my fans in real time. Even better, it’s all supporting ThreeSixty and the work we’re doing to create real change. It’s fashion with purpose, and I love that, so I hope everyone tunes in.”
Anthony’s auction will take place Friday, March 27 at 8 p.m.
Ebay ‘NYC Edit’ Reveals what New York’s Tastemakers are Buying and Selling
Today Ebay also has released The NYC Edit, an editorial guide highlighting what style insiders in New York are buying and selling on Ebay with curated selections and insights from some of the city’s most in-the-know tastemakers.

Intended to be a reflection of resale culture today and how pre-loved fashion is circulating on Ebay, the platform brought together 10 leading cultural voices living in New York for the program, including stylist and fashion editor Dara Allen, actor and comedian Owen Thiele and fashion writer Emilia Petrarca. From 1999 Tom Ford Gucci to L.L.Bean Boat and Totes, the 10 New Yorkers share what’s moving from their own closets to the marketplace, and what they’re making room to buy next.
“New York style is simultaneously cutting-edge and nostalgic, as the city is always in flux,” said Petrarca in a statement. “For The NYC Edit, I chose pieces that reflect Ebay’s incredible selection of personal deep cuts and capture a recent past that New Yorkers seem to be yearning for and rediscovering right now. I’m also selling a few things I love from my own closet that I’m ready to pass along to someone else in the style community.”
In addition to learning more about the items defining the resale economy today, shoppers also can browse each curator’s storefront to shop the pieces they’re buying and selling, as well as easily list items they may have that are currently in-demand on the marketplace. Then In April, New York style traders can swap IRL with The NYC Edit’s curators at Ebay’s community-led market filled with the pieces driving demand in the city.
The full list of The NYC Edit curators includes Ashtin Earle, Dara Allen, Dylan Kelly, Emilia Petrarca, Eny Lee Parker, Jake Woolf, Jalil Johnson, Julia Mervis, Owen Thiele and Talia Mayden.
