Target has appointed Gemma Kubat to be its new SVP of Supply Chain Engineering and Activation, effective August 6, 2018. She will lead the design, activation and ongoing management of assets that support the company’s global supply chain and logistics network, reporting to EVP and Chief Supply Chain Officer Arthur Valdez, Jr.
The appointment comes as Target plans to leverage its network of more than 1,800 stores by transforming its supply chain and logistics capabilities. The retailer is now offering customers free two-day shipping nationwide, rolling out Drive Up services and moving towards same-day delivery through the company’s acquisition of Shipt.

“We’re bringing together stores, digital channels, technology and supply chain to make shopping at Target even easier and more convenient,” said Arthur Valdez, Jr. in a statement. “Gemma’s talent for applying advanced solutions across large organizations is exactly the right fit for Target as we continue transforming our supply chain to meet the needs of our guests.”
Kubat’s retail leadership experience includes human resources, finance, innovation, strategy and logistics. Most recently, she served as VP, Global Business Services, Process and Automation at Walmart. Before that she worked as a Project Manager for the British supermarket Asda, according to her Linkedin profile.
