Smarter Remarketer, a marketing automation platform provider for retailers, has changed its name and will now operate as Smarter HQ. The name change was implemented to better reflect the company’s expanded solution suite.
Smarter HQ also revealed that its current President, Michael Osborne, will take on the role of CEO. Former CEO, Howard Bates, will serve as the company’s Executive Chairman.
Before joining the company in September 2014, Osborne served as Chief Revenue Officer for Bazaarvoice. During his tenure, he helped lead Bazaarvoice to its initial public offering in 2012. He also helped the business grow from less than $1 million in annual sales to more than $130 million over a seven-year period.

“As someone who has known and worked with Osborne for several years, I’m thrilled to see him in the CEO role,” said Neeraj Agrawal, General Partner at Battery Ventures and Board Member at SmarterHQ. “Since joining the company last year, he’s helped facilitate extensive growth in the service offerings of the company, and also helped to land several new retail clients.”
Smarter HQ will launch a new platform in February, according to the company web site.
