Lord & Taylor to Relaunch as Discount Luxury Ecommerce Site

Regal Brands Global, the new owner of iconic department store brand Lord & Taylor, plans to relaunch it as a discount luxury ecommerce platform in 2025. The site will offer designer goods and Lord & Taylor-branded products, according to reporting in Business of Fashion and other media outlets.

The online-only store will source inventory from distributors and sell a range of products manufactured by licensees, in categories including womenswear, footwear, small leather goods and special occasion dresses. Rather than open its own physical stores, Regal Brands reportedly will seek to position Lord & Taylor products in other luxury retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom.

Lord & Taylor was an early victim of COVID; the retailer closed all its physical stores in 2020. After relaunching itself as a digital-only retailer in April 2021 under the ownership of Saadia Group, Lord & Taylor added a retail media network to its offerings in December 2022. Saadia Group sold the retailer’s intellectual property to Regal Brands Group in September 2024.
