The Home Depot continues to bolster its offerings for its professional customers with a revamped digital workspace aimed at helping pros manage and grow their businesses and the acquisition of HVAC distributor Mingledorff’s by Home Depot subsidiary SRS Distribution.
Mingledorff’s Acquisition to Increase the Home Depot’s TAM to $1.2T
Home Depot subsidiary SRS Distribution has agreed to acquire Mingledorff’s, a wholesale distributor of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, parts and supplies. The deal is expected to close during the second quarter of Home Depot’s fiscal 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Through SRS, which The Home Depot acquired in March 2024, the Home Depot has established a position in specialty trade distribution across multiple verticals including roofing and building products, interior and construction products, landscape and pool. The acquisition of Mingledorff’s will add the HVAC vertical to that growing list.
“SRS is a growth engine for The Home Depot, and we continue to drive significant synergies that enable us to bring more innovation and value to our Pro customers,” said Ted Decker, Chair, President and CEO of The Home Depot in a statement. “The addition of Mingledorff’s will give us an incredible opportunity to build an enterprise-wide platform in HVAC equipment, replacement parts and supplies, creating another entry point into the broader distribution space.”
Mingledorff’s serves both residential and commercial customers through 42 locations in five states across the southeastern U.S. The company brings an extensive product portfolio, robust distribution network and established customer relationships that are complementary to SRS’s existing business, with HVAC distribution representing a total addressable market of approximately $100 billion.
“By adding a quality HVAC platform we can offer our customers unmatched product options and streamlined fulfillment — all from a single, trusted distribution partner,” said Dan Tinker, CEO of SRS in a statement.
The family-owned Mingledorff’s business will continue to be run by current President and CEO David Kesterton and its senior leadership team.
New Digital Tools for Home Improvement Professionals
At the same time, the Home Depot announced an expansion of its digital experience for home improvement pros to help renovators, remodelers and builders manage their projects, materials and businesses from a single workspace.
The enhancements to the digital experience for the Home Depot’s Pro Xtra loyalty program members aim to ensure they have the tools they need to scale their businesses with a digital workspace designed with the real-life needs of pros in mind. Moving beyond just transactions, the updated Home Depot Pro site experience functions as a project management tool with features built for the day-to-day pro workflow, including:
- Project planning tools allow Pros to organize large jobs with personalized delivery preferences, preferred pricing and inventory visibility. Pros have access to the majority of The Home Depot’s product assortment within the Project Planning tool;
- The recently launched Material List Builder AI integrates directly with the Project Planning tool, which interprets project intent to generate actionable material lists in seconds, helping Pros bid for jobs faster;
- Real-time delivery tracking with down-to-the-minute accuracy on the delivery of big and bulky materials like concrete, drywall and lumber;
- Complex order scheduling:Â Pros can now schedule and manage deliveries even when items are coming from multiple locations, ensuring materials reach the jobsite based on availability;
- Ongoing enhancements to purchase histories that will allow for easy organization and searching of previous orders and receipts, making reconciliation simpler; and
- Shared access, allowing pros to maintain oversight while empowering their teams with customizable permissions to help keep projects moving. Pros also can collaborate directly with their Home Depot Pro team within the site, providing consistent support and expertise on product selection regardless of whether a Pro is in store or online.
The Pro digital workspace is available for free to all Pro Xtra members online and in the Home Depot app. In addition to digital tools, The Home Depot offers its Pro Xtra members personalized pricing and custom rewards, and from March 23 to 29, the Home Depot is hosting Pro Xtra Week online and in stores, featuring exclusive savings, special offers, giveaways and vendor demos.
“Pros run their business from the truck, the jobsite and our aisles — not a desk,” said Mike Rowe, EVP of Pro for the Home Depot in a statement. “Our upgraded pro site experience provides tools that work the way pros do, by integrating project management into their mobile workspace to help them oversee entire jobs, not just individual purchases. And the best part is that all of these tools are available through one supplier.”
Home Improvement Retailers Jockey for Professionals’ Business
These moves are only the latest as Home Depot works to strengthen its professional offerings, including plans announced in March 2024 to open four new distribution centers (DCs) specifically for pros.
Home Depot competitor Lowe’s also has been angling for more spend by home improvement professionals; in February 2025 the retailer aligned its consumer and professional loyalty programs, redesigning the latter specifically for the small- to mid-sized professional customer.
