Whole Foods Market will double its store count in the UK to 12 supermarkets by mid-June following a flurry of openings in greater London beginning early next month. The new locations also represent the international expansion of the retailer’s smaller-format Daily Shop, introduced in NYC in March 2024, which are approximately one-quarter the size of a typical Whole Foods Market.
This latest growth spurt aligns with Whole Foods Market owner Amazon’s physical store strategy: in January 2026 Amazon pulled the plug on its Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go Stores, while announcing plans to open a total of 100 new Whole Foods Market stores.
The new UK stores will range from 3,300 to 10,000 square feet and will be located in:
- Angel, The Mall, opening April 2;
- Liverpool Street, opening April 23;
- Notting Hill Gate, opening May 14;
- Wood Wharf, opening May 28;
- Monument, opening June 4; and
- James, opening June 11.
“We’re happy to be expanding Whole Foods Market’s physical store presence in the UK, allowing us to reach more customers with our uncompromising quality standards and carefully curated selection of natural and organic products,” said Jason Buechel, VP of Amazon’s Worldwide Grocery Stores and CEO of Whole Foods Market in a statement. “Each new store represents an opportunity to bring responsibly sourced, high-quality food to more communities who share our values of nourishing people and the planet.”
The new Whole Foods Market stores will feature prepared food options; a meat and seafood assortment with a variety of grab-and-go offerings; a wellness and beauty department and specialty departments celebrating artisan producers of cheeses and charcuterie.
