Robert Dyas Improves E-Commerce Experiences With InventCommerce

RobertDyasRetailers need to provide exceptional service across all channels if they want to continue to garner long-term customer loyalty and ongoing sales. In many situations, maintaining this service is contingent on improving the features and functionality of the e-Commerce site.

Robert Dyas, a homeware and domestic appliances retailer, partnered with InventCommerce to update its e-Commerce site. Through the partnership, InventCommerce facilitated the implementation of the Magento Enterprise platform.

The Robert Dyas e-Commerce site originally was hosted on another platform, but company growth and an ever-changing consumer market encouraged the retailer to look for a new solution that could help create a streamlined experience across all purchasing channels. After an extensive selection process, Robert Dyas selected the Magento Enterprise platform, and on-boarded InventCommerce, a Magento Solution Partner, to help with the re-launch.

InventCommerce served as a consultant to Robert Dyas throughout the development process, providing the retailer’s development team with additional developers, project managers and quality assurance experts, enabling the retailer to commit to project deliverables at its own pace.

Robert Dyas implemented the Magento Enterprise platform for two key reasons: The platform’s ability to help merchants achieve PCI compliance and its potential to ensure optimal web site performance across all channels.

Building a successful e-Commerce site hinges largely on understanding what pressing issues exist during the testing process, especially now that there is a glut of customer access points developers must account for, according to Jason Bramsden, COO and CTO of InventCommerce.

“In today’s age with e-Commerce, it’s not just the desktop browser you have to test against,” said Bramsden in an interview with Retail TouchPoints. “It’s all the other browsers you have to test, such as mobile phones and tablets. Three or four years ago, it would have just been limited to Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari, but now with all the different browsers there are a variety of different issues that could occur.”

With Magento Enterprise, Robert Dyas leverages a robust order management system that aligns with omnichannel demands. The retailer integrated the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) extension to create a product return system for customers, as well as a POS extension that allows associates to look up items in-store and online and gives consumers the option to order items in-store and have them delivered to their homes.

“Robert Dyas is one of those retailers who work within limited floor space within the store and they stack everything extremely high,” Bramsden explained. “It’s so tight within some of the stores that they can’t get more than two people to walk down the aisle. They’re more interested in trying to get as much product into the store as possible, but no store could handle all the different products which they currently sell online. That’s why the online experience is so important.”

Due to the success of the Robert Dyas partnership, InventCommerce has rolled out Magento for stationery retailer Ryman and lingerie brand Boux Avenue. All three retailers are owned by British entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.

“The recent project has been highly successful and we are pleased to call InventCommerce a trusted partner to Robert Dyas,” said Greg Saunders, Group e-Commerce Director for Ryman. “Through the partnership, we have received the reassurance that comes from working with an accredited Magento partner, and we will continue to draw on their extensive Magento knowledge and expertise as we enter into new and challenging projects.”
