Alipay has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Han Feng Inc., a food supplier for Chinese restaurants and supermarkets in the U.S., with the goal of expanding Han Feng’s reach to Chinese communities here.
The partnership will kick off with a pilot program in New York and North Carolina. The more than 14,000 merchants in 22 states that Han Feng services will now be able to accept payments via the Alipay mobile and payment services platform. Users will also be able to find nearby merchants, receive coupons and make purchase decisions through the app’s “Discover” function.
“Chinese consumers leverage Alipay as a lifestyle enabler and our partnership with Han Feng provides an experience that combines discovery and payment,” said Souheil Badran, President of Alipay North America in a statement. “By pairing Han Feng’s extensive reach within the Chinese consumer market with the familiarity of the Alipay platform, both Chinese consumers and the merchants that provide them with services will benefit from this partnership.”

Alipay was originally founded by Chinese e-Commerce giant Alibaba and is currently operated by Ant Financial Services Group.
