Chumbak, Shop Direct Sign Cloud Deal With IBM

Chumbak, a lifestyle product retailer which operates more than 40 stores across India and online, has chosen IBM Cloud to improve management efficiency of critical data across multiple locations. The agreement also allows the retailer to host and run their ERP applications in the Cloud.

During the last five years, Chumbak has grown more than 300% year-over-year, according to Rajath Kedilaya, CIO of Chumbak. The company plans to grow the business, both online and offline, with the support of IBM Cloud.

“The IBM Cloud infrastructure as a service, with its unique combination of virtual and bare metal features, has helped us streamline our operations seamlessly,” said Kedilaya.

Shop Direct also has signed a deal with IBM Cloud to transform the retailer’s Financial Services platform, one of the largest non-bank lenders in the UK. Shop Direct Financial Services offers customers credit options, extended warranties and insurance products to make the retailer’s brands more affordable.

The deal builds upon the 10-year services agreement that IBM and Shop Direct announced in early 2015, which moved the retailer to a hybrid cloud model.
