Amazon, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), has opened its first fulfillment center in the UAE’s capital city. The center uses Amazon’s automation solutions to help accelerate deliveries, enabling same-day delivery across a wide range of products for customers throughout the country.

Nearly half of the fulfillment center’s storage capacity of 8 million units will be dedicated to sellers using Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) services. More than 30 product categories can be stored in the center, including home, kitchen, groceries, beauty and electronics.

“This new fulfillment center represents a step forward in our long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi and the UAE,” said Ronaldo Mouchawar, VP of Amazon Middle East, Africa and Turkey in a statement. “Through our partnership with ADIO, we are leveraging Amazon’s expertise and technology capabilities to support the UAE’s digital economy, while empowering local businesses with the tools and infrastructure they need to succeed online and support customers.”

The center also will house an Innovation Lab that includes package testing equipment, 3D printing systems and ergonomic assessment tools to support operational efficiency and enhance customer service. Analytics-driven processes will be used to reduce consumption, part of Amazon’s commitment to embedding sustainable practices across its operations.
