RetailMeNot Acquires Pickie

retailmenotDigital coupon marketplace RetailMeNot has acquired Pickie, a personalized shopping application provider for fashion, beauty and home goods. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

In an announcement on the web site, the Pickie team explained that over the past two years, the company has created an app designed to make tablet shopping more relevant and engaging “through personalized, tablet-optimized experiences.” Over the past few months, Pickie established a white label version of the technology to enable brands to create their own catalog apps for the iPad.

As part of the transaction, RetailMeNot will discontinue the Pickie app. Select staff from Pickie will relocate from New York City to the RetailMeNot global headquarters in Austin, Texas.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Pickie to RetailMeNot’s product organization,” said Steven Pho, Sr. VP of Corporate Development, RetailMeNot. “We continue to believe that acquisitions of strong talent can help strategically accelerate our desktop, mobile and in-store initiatives. We believe that the skills that went into the creation of the Pickie app, when integrated with the scalability of RetailMeNot’s technology, can be a significant match that will aid our company’s future growth.”
