New Balance Moves Above the Ankle by Adding Apparel to Resale Assortment

Published: March 12, 2026

New Balance has added used apparel to the offerings on its Reconsidered resale platform, which already has helped recirculate more than 100,000 pairs of New Balance shoes since it launched in February 2024. The stock of apparel will come from consumer returns with cosmetic imperfections that cannot be sold as new, all of which have been cleaned and inspected prior to resale.

“Reconsidered has been an impactful platform for New Balance consumers to access popular like-new or gently worn styles while helping to extend the life of our footwear,” said Tracy Knauer, VP of North America Marketing and DTC at New Balance in a statement. “We’ve seen an influx of new customers come to us through Reconsidered, so we’re excited to continue offering them even more options through our expansion into the apparel category.”

The circular economy is clearly in growth mode, with the February 2026 Ebay acquisition of the Depop resale fashion marketplace for $1.2 billion, as well as recently launched resale programs from Pacsun, New York & Company and Cotopaxi.

Archive powers the Reconsidered platform, and Tersus Solutions provides the cleaning, repairing and warehousing. While apparel is not currently available for trade-in, customers can trade in gently worn New Balance shoes by mail or at more than 100 U.S. retail locations.
