Target Brings Back $5 Million School Donation Program

Target
has announced the return of its Give With Target program, in which the company will donate up to $5 million to K-12 schools nationwide. Guests can allocate the full donation to schools of their choice by voting on Facebook through Sept. 21, 2013, or until all $5 million has been allocated.

Consumers can visit the Target Facebook page to vote for a school of their choice once per week. When a school receives 25 votes, Target will donate $1 per vote, with a maximum donation of $10,000 per school. The school that reaches 10,000 votes first, or receives the highest number of votes, will receive a special celebration, including a live musical performance and more.

The Give With Target initiative is part of the retailer’s commitment to donate $1 billion to educational organizations by the end of 2015. In 2012, Target contributed the funds for classroom necessities to  more than 30,000 U.S. schools.

“The response to last year’s Give With Target program was overwhelmingly positive, and we are excited to invite our guests to designate $5 million to their schools this year,” said Laysha Ward, President of Community Relations at Target. “By rallying communities across the country in support of education, Target is playing a role in helping put more kids on the path to high school graduation.”
