Roughly a week after launching at Gelson’s on the West Coast, Impossible Foods is making its East Coast debut. The plant-based burgers are now available in 100 Wegmans supermarkets and two Fairway stores in Manhattan.
Founded in 2011, Impossible Foods aims to make its plant-based meat products available in grocery stores throughout the whole country by mid-2020. The Impossible Burger is currently available in over 7,000 restaurants, featured on menus at Burger King, Red Robin, White Castle, and more.
“Three years ago we introduced plant-based meat to the world in Manhattan at Momofuku Nishi, where Chef David Chang said the Impossible Burger blew him away,” said Impossible Foods’ CEO and Founder Dr. Patrick O. Brown in a statement. “Now all home chefs in the Northeast can experience their own ‘David Chang moment’ in their own kitchens — and accelerate the inevitable consumer movement toward plant-based food.”
