Impulse Spending Rose 51% YoY in Q2, Shifting the Marketing Landscape

Published: September 27, 2021

Impulse spending bounced back at the start of Q2 2021, rising 51% year-over-year. Capturing customers on such short journeys requires marketing that grabs their attention immediately, which is giving livestreaming, influencer-led shopping, shoppable video and interactive digital advertising their chance to truly shine.

Additionally, digital marketing is getting more expensive. Advertising Cost of Sale has risen five points year-over-year as increased advertiser competition drives up costs per click. Amazon alone is expected to generate over $30 billion in U.S. advertising activities by 2023.
