Tecovas, the Austin, Texas-based Western wear apparel and cowboy boot retailer, will deploy AI-powered allocation and replenishment solutions across its 30+ stores, following a pilot that increased both in-stock rates and weeks of supply. The solution, from Invent.ai, also helped boost sales for newly launched products by 20% by placing these items where customers most wanted to find them.

The Invent.ai technology predicts demand at the granular SKU-store level, helping ensure the right products are in the right locations to capture every sales opportunity. The AI continuously adjusts inventory across stores, distribution centers and fulfillment channels as demand shifts, helping to improve in-stock rates and sales while also reducing excess inventory. Additionally, the solution reduces the workload of allocators by as much as 80% via automated, optimized inventory flows and the elimination of spreadsheets.

A key outcome from the pilot was the 2% overall increase in the Weighted in Stock (WIS) rate, which weights the raw in-stock rate by item-level sales volume. For example, compare an item that sold 80 times in the last 90 days to one that sold 20 times during the same period. The former item is 4X more impactful to customer service if it is out of stock. Items can be weighted with their forecast, recent sales or some other volume indicator, according to Hydrian.com.

In addition to the overall increase in WIS, apparel and accessories products’ WIS climbed 2.7% during the pilot. Weeks of supply increased by 0.45, reflecting more efficient inventory management, and the WIS for new products jumped 1.2%, helping them achieve that 20% sales boost.

“Our initial pilot with Invent.ai delivered outstanding results,” said Kevin Harwood, CTO at Tecovas in a statement. “Seeing such measurable results upfront gave us the confidence to phase Invent.ai’s solutions across all our stores.”

In April 2025 Mattress Firm deployed inventory solutions for demand forecasting, store and DC replenishment from Invent.ai. In July 2025, two ads from Tecovas landed in the list of the Top 10 best-performing retail ads from the first half of the year, based on measurements from the EDO platform.
