Parachute chief merchandising officer

DTC home décor brand Parachute has appointed retail industry veteran Meredith Lamont as its first Chief Merchandising Officer. She will be responsible for driving growth strategies, as well as leading Parachute’s product development and category expansion.

The multi-category home company was founded as an online-only business in 2014 and has since expanded into brick-and-mortar with 13 storefronts, recently launched in Canada and continues to grow its category assortment, which now includes mattresses, apparel and furniture.

A 20-year retail veteran with 13 years specializing in home furnishings, Lamont previously served as a trend analyst and strategic advisor for multiple major retail brands to help companies identify areas for expansion across different categories in the market. She has held senior-level positions with a number of leading retailers, including Pottery Barn, Gap and Levi Strauss & Co.

“I am thrilled to welcome Meredith to the Parachute leadership team, and I’m confident that her retail merchandising expertise and deep experience with launching new business categories will accelerate growth in our company,” said Ariel Kaye, Founder and CEO of Parachute in a statement. “Meredith has an excellent track record when it comes to successfully identifying white spaces across different industries and tracking evolving consumer trends, which will be instrumental as we look at opportunities to grow our product assortment.”
