Retail and resale veteran Bradford Shellhammer will join Rent the Runway as Chief Product Officer effective Oct. 29, 2024, according to a LinkedIn post by CEO Jennifer Hyman. Shellhammer was most recently Chief Product Officer at the Etsy-owned musical instrument marketplace Reverb, and prior to that he held jobs with increasing responsibility at Ebay for more than six years.
“I met Bradford 15 years ago as OG founders in the NYC startup scene when he was building Fab.com,” Hyman wrote. “Fab.com was iconic as it showed the power of a design-led brand that had a real personality online (very rare for its time). Its branding was bold and iconic while the user experience was simple — exactly what you want out of a digital product.”
Hyman also praised Shellhammer’s work at Ebay: “The work Bradford did at Ebay to encourage Ebay to lean into its rightful position as the first mover in secondhand everything and online community united by love of a specific category breathed new life into such an incredible company. As a customer and lover of Ebay myself I saw firsthand how their homepage, mobile app and shopper experience transformed immensely in a relatively short period of time and I know much of this was due to Bradford.”
Hyman shared her strategic plans for Rent the Runway earlier this month.
