Bed Bath & Beyond Promotes Two Executives to Top Finance Positions

One day after announcing the departure of CEO Mark Tritton, Bed Bath & Beyond has named Laura Crossen as its new SVP of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer, and Susie Kim as SVP of Treasury and Investor Relations. Both appointments are effective immediately.

Crossen, who has been with the retailer since 2001, will lead the team responsible for executing global accounting operations, financial reporting and tax functions, and will continue to report to EVP and CFO Gustavo Arnal. She replaces John Barresi, who resigned from the company effective June 10, 2022 to pursue another opportunity. Kim, who joined the retailer in May 2021 to lead the company’s investor relations, will take over Crossen’s previous role.

“I’ve been impressed by Laura’s leadership, financial skills and dedication to our company,” said Arnal in a statement. “Over Laura’s 20-year tenure at Bed Bath & Beyond, she has demonstrated an incredible work ethic and has been an invaluable member of our team. I’m thrilled to remain working with her in this new role and look forward to our organization continuing to benefit from her contributions. I am also please to have Susie play an expanded and even more pivotal role in our organization.”

Tritton’s departure, which was precipitated by a Q1 sales decline of 25%, was accompanied by the departure of EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer Joe Hartsig. Bed Bath & Beyond Board member Sue Gove is serving as Interim CEO, and former SVP and General Manager for Harmon Mara Sirhal is replacing Hartsig.
