The U.S. Postal Service is bringing in Geoffrey the Giraffe and the Toys ‘R’ Us team to bolster its annual Operation Santa program.
USPS Operation Santa lets U.S. households “adopt” letters to Santa, written by children and family members of all ages. Children write their holiday wishes to Santa Claus and then physically mail them to an official address. These letters are anonymized and placed on the program’s website, where individuals, families and organizations can select one or several wishes they want to make come true.
Operation Santa is already accepting letters for this holiday season, and having Toys ‘R’ Us as a partner will make it easier for consumers to purchase gifts via a specially curated ecommerce site.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with USPS Operation Santa to empower more letter adopters this holiday season,” said Gary Haas, VP of Ecommerce for Toys ‘R’ Us in a statement. “By simplifying the adoption process and offering a curated selection of gifts, we are making it easier for individuals and families to spread joy to children in need and make their holiday dreams come true. Together, we’re creating magical moments that will resonate for years to come.”

The curated shopping experience is the first phase of a much longer partnership journey, according to USPS Marketing VP Sheila Holman: “This year, we’re excited to offer a curated selection of toys and playthings, and next year, we’ll be expanding to include clothing, shoes, books and more,” she said in a statement. “Our goal is to make it even easier for people to personalize their gift-giving and help more families experience the magic of the holidays through USPS Operation Santa.”
Consumers participating in Operation Santa also can now send gifts using USPS Ground Advantage, which delivers packages nationwide in two to five business days.
