Costco will be the official retail partner for Peloton’s first seasonal offer. Beginning Nov. 1, Costco will sell an exclusive Peloton Bike+ bundle in 300 U.S. stores and online through Feb. 15, 2025, or while supplies last. Costco has recently focused on expanding its service portfolio; in April 2024 the retailer added weight loss care to its partnership with Sesame.
The Peloton Bike+ will be self-assembly and is expected to retail for $1,999 in-store and $2,199 online, including delivery and a 48-month extended warranty. Customers will need a Costco All-Access Membership to access content on the Bike+ for $44 per month. With the monthly fee, Costco members can create accounts for their entire household and get unlimited access to the Peloton content library. Among the 16 available cycling modalities in the library are bike bootcamp, strength, Pilates and meditation.
“The Costco brand is incredibly powerful and respected in the U.S. and abroad,” said Dion Camp Sanders, Chief Emerging Business Officer at Peloton in a statement. “We’re excited to learn from this first seasonal collaboration in the U.S. and hopefully expand distribution of Peloton products to new geographic markets with Costco in the future.”
Peloton has had its share of difficulties since its initial heyday during pandemic lockdowns, including product recalls and the negative images of fictional characters having heart attacks while using the equipment. Peloton had announced a brand “relaunch” in May 2023 even as it faced additional product recalls. Since then the company has been partnering with different enterprises to leverage its extensive library, including agreeing to provide Lululemon with fitness content as part of a deal in September 2023 and teaming with TikTok to create a fitness hub in January 2024.
