N8 Identity Inc. Unveils Workforce Identity And Access Management Tool

The proliferation of store technologies across channels, combined with high employee turnover rates, makes managing retail system security exceptionally challenging for most retailers. Onboarding, offboarding and changes in responsibilities all require fast, accurate management of employee access rights in order to maintain high-speed customer service while protecting system and application security.

To help reduce governance, access and risk issues unique to the retail industry, N8 Identity Inc., a Canadian-based identity and access management (IAM) solution provider, introduced Employee Lifecycle Manager (ELM) for Retail. The new product delivers a simplified identity verification process that allows retailers to certify access on a massive scale quickly, with reduced effort ― even for chains juggling thousands of employees over hundreds of locations.

“Managing employee access rights and task assignments at volume despite massive levels of churn is an ongoing problem for retailers,” stated Leslie Hand, Research Director, IDC Retail Insights. “These challenges are compounded by the rise of the empowered omnichannel consumer whose cross-portal engagement habits must be tracked and managed by the retailer as well. Retailers need identity and access management solutions that understand the unique challenges of the retail business while helping support the bottom line.”

ELM for Retail offers capabilities including: certification of access, same-day onboarding and offboarding, segregation of duties enforcement, and consistent compliance controls across enterprise retail systems. The solution provides “out of the box” integration with many everyday retail technologies, including POS; inventory, portal and human resource management; enterprise resource management (ERP); timekeeping; and others. This built-in capacity to use and exchange conventional retail information accelerates time to value and reduces the efforts and costs associated with customizing generic IAM solutions.

“Omnichannel customer experiences, exploding technology requirements within the stores, and razor-thin margins make it imperative that the IAM solution selected delivers compliance, process efficiencies and cost savings,” said Jay O’Donnell, President and CEO of N8 Identity. “In our experience, the rapid churn and scale of the identities to be managed across a variety of complex scenarios are poorly addressed by general purpose IAM solutions. ELM for Retail solves the expanding governance challenges faced by retailers by delivering continuous identity compliance, automated business processes and lower costs.”

The retail-specific workforce security solution, unveiled June 2013, is based on the flagship ELM IAM solution from N8 Identity, now utilized across the financial, insurance, telecommunications, government, utilities and manufacturing sectors.
