The Melt, a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in grilled cheese sandwiches, has adopted the Perka platform to create a mobile loyalty program called “The Melt Perks.”
Using the Perka app as a mobilized punchcard, consumers can earn a free melt for every nine they purchase via mobile or the company web site. Loyal customers also are able to earn the “Perks+” status when they buy at least one melt in five separate orders within 30 consecutive days.

After “months of negotiations,” NetSuite has acquired OrderMotion, a provider of cloud-based Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) order management solutions, according to Andy Lloyd, General Manager of Commerce Products, NetSuite. OrderMotion brings more than 180 merchants to NetSuite fold. Following the acquisition of Retail Anywhere in January 2013, NetSuite currently provides cloud-based financial and ERP software suites to more than 1,000 retail companies.
“Order management is possibly the area where there is the greatest evolution for retailers in keeping up with customer demands,” said Lloyd. “We believe order management is a key piece in serving customers better.”

In a new version of its iPad point-of-sale (POS) solution, Revel 2.0, Revel Systems has added security updates, which include photo confirmation and anti-identity theft protection, built into the POS.
To use the photo confirmation service, employees swipe the customer’s credit card, then the customer’s photo is accessed from their Revel account, which can be created through online Facebook integration. The POS will then check for visual verification and prompt the employee to verify that the picture shown matches the person using the credit card, removing any threat of stolen PIN codes or cards. Fender, the U.S. electric guitar and bass manufacturer, has partnered with Knotice to better connect with consumers and launch more effective marketing campaigns.
The Knotice platform, “Universal Profile Management,” takes fragmented data from various sources such as site behavior, email activity, purchase history and unites them onto a single dataset. By converging these data points, retailers can view all of a consumer’s activity in a single profile, turning the data from these disparate sources into a tangible customer. This allows retailers to launch integrated marketing campaigns that combine analytics with activity.
