Pricer Brings Social Media To Store Shelves

New electronic shelf label (ESL) capabilities allow brick-and-mortar retailers to provide the interactive experiences of online shopping ― directly from store shelves, in real time.

An advanced ESL solution announced in May 2013 by Pricer, a worldwide provider of high-speed digital shelf labels, enables customers to utilize their favorite social media networks to rate, comment about and/or ‘Like’ products displayed in store aisles. By using a smartphone to scan the QR code on an ESL, shoppers can generate feedback as well as access social insights about products. The interactive ESL also displays the total number of Likes, which is updated in real time.

Retailers can expand social sharing at the shelf edge by leveraging the use of QR codes to redirect shoppers to online content such as Facebook pages, branded web sites or video demonstrations. In addition, retailers can offer targeted benefits and discounts to shoppers who provide and share their opinions while in-store.
