Sears Extends “Reserve It” Service To Shop Your Way Members

Some consumers may believe shopping online is more convenient, but it can be challenging to purchase apparel online because of the inability to try on items.

Sears has created a new “Reserve It” service to address this challenge, and allow consumers to make more efficient online buying decisions. With “Reserve It,” consumers have the ability to shop online, reserve items at their preferred stores and then eventually try on and purchase items. The complimentary service is available to all Shop Your Way loyalty club members.

“‘Reserve It’ is yet another shopping convenience in a series of innovations we’ve introduced since last year that will save time for our members this busy holiday season as they shop for gifts, clothes and shoes for themselves and their family,” said Leena Munjal, SVP of Customer Experience and Integrated Retail at Sears Holdings Corporation. While shopping for apparel and shoes online, consumers can select an item and click the “Reserve It” button. The item is immediately placed on hold for up to 48 hours at the consumers’ preferred Sears location. Consumers can reserve up to six items at a time.

“We’re hearing from members that they love the flexibility of shopping on their own terms, and having the convenience of picking out the items online before they arrive at the store,” Munjal said in an interview with Retail TouchPoints. “We’re also hearing from moms who say that ‘Reserve It’ is convenient, easy and fast, and will save them a lot of time, especially around the holiday season when time is such a commodity.”

Over the past year, Sears has introduced a variety of solutions to streamline the omnichannel shopping experience, including:

  • In-Vehicle Pickup, Return and Exchange in Five: Shop Your Way members can tap into the mobile app to pick up, return or exchange purchases in five minutes or less. With the curbside service, consumers don’t even have to leave their cars to go through the process.
  •  Expanded Free Store Pickup: Members can pick up Sears.com and Kmart.com orders at any of the retailers’ more than 2,000 locations nationwide.
  • Shop Your Way Member Assist: Members can leverage the powers of the web and mobile to quickly connect with local store associates, ask questions and receive product recommendations.
